After a spectacular convention in Baltimore, Optimists are holding on to fond memories of Maryland and putting the inner harbor behind them to head to the lakefront in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The official dates are July 12-14, 2012 and excitement is already building. Members are encouraged to include additional days to visit the attractions, see the sites and experience Milwaukee!

For the 2012 Convention, it's all about choices! Convention delegates can choose one of three hotels. So what will it be: the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, where some of the Convention events will take place, the Hyatt Regency or the DoubleTree Hotel? Learn more about them all!

    Live from Convention!
    All of the action at this summer's Convention will once again be streaming live! The July Board of Directors meeting and all of the Convention Business Sessions will be streaming live on the Optimist channel at stream.optimist.org.

    Cele"BRAT"e Fest

    On Wednesday, July 11 from 6-9pm, Optimists are invited to enjoy an evening of food, fun, music and fellowship just two short blocks from the Hilton at Zeidler Park. Come be a part of the first ever Optimist Brat Fest and dance to the music provided by one of Milwaukee’s best local polka bands. 

    You can just hear the laughter from Optimists as those brats sizzle and we cele"brat"e the start of the Optimist International Convention, not to mention the yummy addition of deep fried cheese curds!  

    There is a nominal fee of $5.00 per person - see the Official Optimist registration form for details. If you are already registered, no worries, contact Barbara Zurcher at barbara.zurcher@optimist.org to add it to your existing registration.

    Motorcycle Ride for CCC

    Enjoy an organized sightseeing motorcycle afternoon ride on Sunday, July 15. Be one of many riders who will be raising money for the Optimist Childhood Cancer Campaign (CCC).  All types of motorcycles are welcome!

    After an optional kick-start ala carte breakfast at 9:30 a.m. at the Iron Horse Hotel/Restaurant just south of downtown Milwaukee, the group will depart from Hal's Harley-Davidson Dealership* at 11:30 a.m. for a scenic ride through the beautiful country side of the Kettle Moraine area.       

    Optimists will ride along two lane rural highways and country roads into the renowned Holy Hill area.  The final leg of the ride will take the group along the Lake Michigan shoreline, stopping at the Harley-Davidson Museum for an ala carte refueling.  The ride will power down at Hal's Harley Davidson at approximately 4:00 p.m.  

    The ride entry fee is only $20.00 per person. Checks can be made out to Optimist International Foundation. US and Canadian dollars will be allocated to the respective Foundations.

    * Transportation for renters will be provided to and from Hal's Harley-Davidson Dealership.
