JOOI has a program that is designed to help JOOI Members get other kids
to pick up books and start reading! Through the JOOI of Reading, JOOI Members
can help younger kids, students their own age and children they might never
even meet, plus readers of all ages who are young at heart!
JOOI has outlined two JOOI of Reading projects that JOOI Clubs can choose
to do, or Clubs can develop their own ways to promote reading to other students.

Mentoring Kids
Children look up to older students and trust them to know what is fun, interesting
and cool! If JOOI Members show how fun reading can be, they will pass the
“JOOI of Reading” along to other kids.

Reading Month
Many students get so wrapped up in reading for school that they forget to
take time to read just because they enjoy it. JOOI Clubs can designate a
month to promote reading for fun to the students in their schools.

JOOI has also developed a PowerPoint presentation for promoting the JOOI
of Reading program to JOOI Clubs, Optimist Clubs and other groups and organizations.
