Optimist Junior Golf recently announced the junior golfers of the 2025 Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team. Those making the team exemplified an impressive balance of academics, golf and community service. After reviewing the qualifications of impressive applicants, the Optimist Junior Golf Committee selected the following exceptional student athletes for the team:

Teja Hanumolu: Westwood, Massachusetts
Owen Musenbrock: Germantown, Illinois
Milagros Giordani: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Tyler Taber: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
Hannah Stouder: Sacramento, California
This team exemplified an impressive balance of academics, golf and community service. The All-Scholastic Team is named for Hugh Cranford, who served as executive director of Optimist International from 1967 to 1986.He was instrumental in starting the Optimist Junior Golf program and in 1978 led the efforts to co-sponsor the Optimist Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, the forerunner to today's Optimist International Junior Golf Championships. Cranford passed away in August 2014.
Teja Hanumolu Teja Hanumolu is a standout junior from Massachusetts who exemplifies academic excellence, athletic talent, and a deep commitment to service and leadership. Recognized as his hometown's highest-achieving high school student, he earned a perfect score on the PSAT and over a 1550 on the SAT, while maintaining a near-perfect GPA. A varsity golf team member since his freshman year and now serving as team captain, he has demonstrated resilience and determination, becoming one of the top performers in the junior golf scene in New England. Beyond the course, Teja is deeply involved in a number of extracurricular activities. For example, he currently serves as one of two National Student Directors for an international service organization (PURE Youth), overseeing over 350 ambassadors across 35+ chapters and ensuring the smooth execution of all facets of the organization's work. Teja has also conducted focused research on energy preservation in agriculture and is in the process of developing a research paper on this topic. Additionally, he is an instructor and camp developer at Code Ninjas, teaching young children the fundamentals of coding. Finally, stemming from his own struggle to find competitive golf tournaments when he started, Teja has launched jrgolfiq.com, a website designed to help junior golfers navigate tournaments based on their skill levels, demonstrating both his innovation and a commitment to giving back to the sport.

Owen Musenbrock is an exceptional junior from Germantown, Illinois, who stands out for his academic excellence, leadership, and service to others. Ranked first in his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a top tier ACT score of 36 which was composite and achieved on his first attempt. Owen attends a highly ranked institution and consistently rises to meet its rigorous standards. He is also a member of the Varsity Scholar Bowl team, further demonstrating his intellectual versatility. On the golf course, Owen is a dedicated three-year varsity golfer and was named the 2024 Knight Golfer of the Year. He also works at Bent Oak Golf Course. This year he coached the Germantown Elementary golf team to a state championship. First in school history. He shares his passion and knowledge of golf with younger athletes. Whether offering encouragement to teammates or stepping up to volunteer, Owen is known for his humility, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile With his academic strength, leadership skills, and genuine care for his community, Owen Musenbrock represents the very best of what it means to be a student-athlete.

Milagros Giordani

Tyler Taber has graduated from Oceanside Collegiate Academy (SC), where he distinguished himself both academically and athletically. A dedicated student, who keeps his golf scores low and his test scores high. Tyler earned an impressive 1530 on the SAT and a 34 on the ACT, all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in a course load that included college-level classes. As a key contributor on the Oceanside golf team, he helped guide the program to two state championships. Tyler's commitment to excellence is evident not only in his academic and athletic achievements, but also in the respect he has earned from his peers, coaches, teachers, and family. His maturity, work ethic, and leadership have set a strong example for those around him. Tyler will continue his academic and athletic career at USC Upstate, where he plans to major in Mathematics and Statistics while competing on the university's golf team. His future in both the classroom and on the course is undeniably bright.

The Community Service Award goes to:

Hannah Stouder is a standout both on and off the golf course. A driven and compassionate leader, she founded Hannah’s Care Closet, a charitable initiative that has collected and distributed over $10,000 worth of donated items to unhoused children in the Sacramento area. Her dedication to service extends further through her volunteer work with multiple organizations, including California Eagles, Girls Golf, and U.S. Kids Golf. Hannah is a First Tee Pure Insurance Scholar earning her recognition in Forbes Magazine for her impactful community efforts. Hannah approaches every challenge with focus and determination, whether it’s in the classroom, on the course, or in her community. Academically, she has maintained an exceptional 4.3 GPA and holds memberships in both the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society. A well-rounded individual and seasoned golfer, Hannah has committed to play Division I golf at the University of Nevada, Reno. She exemplifies the qualities of a student-athlete who is prepared to make a difference in the game and beyond.
